Backing the stars of tomorrow

Hospital commission wins Studio Weave international accolade

12 December 2013

Studio Weave, the architects appointed to one of the design commissions managed by Willis Newson for University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust (UHBristol), have been celebrated as stars of tomorrow by being awarded the International Emerging Architecture Award by Architecture Review earlier this month.

This year, over 350 entries were discussed by four esteemed judges, including Sir Peter Cook. Four winners will share a prize fund of £10,000.

Studio Weave won the award for Lullaby Factory, a steampunk soundscape of stories and lullabies that reanimates a neglected corner of Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, London.

Studio Weave are currently working with us on designs for sculptural acoustic baffling to be installed in the new ward block of the Bristol Royal Infirmary in May 2014.
