Creative Networking

The Bristol Arts and Health Forum Creative Networking sessions are evening events open to all arts and health practitioners, artists, and health and social care professionals in Bristol. Four events will be held in venues around Bristol. Each event is delivered by a Bristol artist whose workshop is tailored to promote networking, whilst also foucsing on a particular health issue.

The next event focuses on "How can we use creative arts to help us understand complex health conditions?" Author Fiona Hamilton and Consultant Psychiatrist Dr Clare Short will facilitate this workshop, which focuses on eating disorders and has applications in other areas. Healthcare professionals, artists and anyone with an interest are welcome to attend.

Using a story in verse, Bite Sized, as a springboard, we will demonstrate ways in which creative approaches such as writing, dance and drawing can be useful in exploring eating disorders. Drawing on both clinical expertise and artistic approaches, we will tease out some themes and invite attendees to consider them in fresh ways.

There will be opportunities for discussion and optional participation in activities which we hope will be informative as well as interesting and enjoyable. This session is a chance to think 'out of the box' and see what insights and inspiration can happen when arts and health perspectives come together to open up new avenues.
