BHOC shortlisted for BBH Awards

10 August 2011

We're very pleased that the art created to enhance the patient environment as part of Bristol's Haematology & Oncology Centre's recent refurbishment has been recognised in the shortlist for this year's Building Better Healthcare (BBH) Awards. Willis Newson devised the art strategy for the project and managed the creation and installation of the artworks. The project is entered in the Patient Environment: Best Use of Visual Art in Healthcare category.

Creating art for redevelopment projects can be challenging, demanding a close working relationship with contractors, architects and the staff and patients who work in and use the existing building. The resulting works now enhancing this 40-year old building include vinyl graphics on doors, glazing panels, bespoke furniture, large wall graphics and individual paintings and artworks. They are all inspired by the theme of  ‘a sense of place’ and many reference local landscapes and landmarks. They also play a vital role in enhancing wayfinding throughout the building. We are proud of everyone involved in this project - download our case study here to find out more.

BBH Award winners will be announced on the 10th November 2011. Find out more about the Awards and the other fantastic projects that made the shortlist.
