Real as Yesterday…

You can now order your copy of a new publication celebrating and promoting the benefit of the arts in improving the wellbeing of older people.

Real as Yesterday... is a moving and uplifting collection of poems and stories from patients at Delancey Hospital facilitated by writer Sue Mayfield and inspired by memories evoked by live music.

“I am sure everyone will be moved by the memories, stories and poems in this book. I also hope that [...] people will be reminded of the importance of person-centred care and the need for dignity in care for older people – key priorities within the National Service Framework for Older People.”

Professor Ian Philp

National Director for Older People,

Department of Health

The book is likely to be of interest to arts and healthcare professionals, writers, musicians and anyone working with older adults. It provides an excellent advocacy tool to demonstrate the value of the arts within healthcare settings and offers a fresh perspective on the lives of older people, encouraging greater empathy and understanding.
