Moving On: Evaluation
Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP) and the University of the West of England (UWE) were awarded £107,709 by NHS Estates for a research project exploring the impact of the Moving On programme of integrated public art commissions. A qualitative study using mixed methods, it drew on documentary data, interviews and focus groups over a two-year period. The multi-disciplinary project team based within UWE included researchers from the arts and social sciences working with AWP and Willis Newson. The resulting report, 'Building on the Evidence', was delivered in 2007 and has been used by both the academic community and other NHS Trusts. One key finding was the benefit of fully involving service users and staff in projects, and this learning in particular informed the later Arts at Callington Road project.
